What Is Dahua AcuPick?
AcuPick is Dahua’s AI-driven search function for automatic identification and tracking of people or vehicles in video footage. Based on visual characteristics, the technology can automatically find a specific target in both live preview and recorded footage and locate relevant video sequences quickly and accurately. This significantly speeds up video analysis and makes target searches much easier.
AcuPick supports the automatic search for people or vehicles using two search methods:
- Target image: by uploading a reference image or selecting the target object in the video with a single click.
- Object attributes / video metadata:
- Human: gender, top color, top type, bottom type, bottom color, hat, bag, umbrella.
- Vehicle: vehicle color, vehicle type, logo, calling, smoking, seatbelt.
AcuPick can be deployed on both cameras and directly on recorders from the Dahua NVR-EI2 Series.
Especially with NVR-based search functions, it is important to clearly distinguish AcuPick from Target Video, as both functions can appear similar in certain use cases, while the underlying search logic is different.
AcuPick indicates exactly when and where a specific target was detected within a defined time period. For example, if the target is a person, AcuPick searches specifically for that individual, even if visible characteristics such as clothing color have changed, and shows exactly when the person was captured. To ensure higher search accuracy, AcuPick is limited to people and vehicles.
Target Video, on the other hand, provides an intuitive way to filter recordings and helps identify which objects are similar to the target object or meet the selected search criteria. Target Video is based on matching combinations of attributes and supports extended target search types, including face, person, motor vehicle, and non-motor vehicle.

AcuPick significantly increases the efficiency of video analysis by replacing time-consuming manual search processes and making relevant video footage available in a highly targeted manner within a very short time. Especially in security-related scenarios such as theft, vandalism, unauthorized access, or the tracking of suspicious individuals and vehicles, events can be narrowed down more quickly, reconstructed with greater time accuracy, and assessed faster. This shortens response times when a critical situation occurs while noticeably reducing the effort required for review, verification, and follow-up.
